since I was in the second grade!

For the longest time that was all

when I set out to reach a goal,

I usually achieve it

was a big goal...

a truly enormous goal

and I didn't know how to get there.

From the time I got

serious about getting published

until I got my first book contract

(the book that became my bestseller),

it took more than ten years.

Yes, you read that right--

MORE THAN TEN YEARS!

But I learned a lot in those ten years...

and in the years since then

Now I am a bestselling children's book author

with 18 books published by major publishing houses
